Development of shelter was a primary activity which was originally a need based requirement. Initially shelters were developed utilizing materials easily available which could be processed with minimum efforts. The inspiration or guidelines for development of shelters was mainly natural trees with canopy which provided shade as well as limited protection from rain and weather vagaries. The early development was mainly based on the needs and expressions of a selected shape or design were not the primary concern. The building activity developed into architectural expressions at certain phase of development of households and buildings.
